The Department of Drinking water
Supply has been actively using the ICT for the day-to-day
activities. The activities of computerization of
the Mission started in 1986 and has continuously
improving of the usage of ICT. The Department of
Drinking water Supply is implementing MIS programme
in all the State PHED/ Boards/ Nigams. Fund are
allocated to the State Govt to procure the Hardware
& software items. The Department has a exclusive
web enabled email server with the domain name water.nic.in
for both intranet communications and extranet communications.
The State PHED departments, Boards and Nigams also
provided with mailed Ids to effectively communicate
with each others and with the mission.
During the 9th plan funds had been
allocated to all the state PHED/Nigam /Boards. The
total funds released was Rs 8938.24 lakhs and the
total utilization was Rs 8536.72 lakhs ( 95.51%).
During 10th plan period, for the
implementation of MIS program, a Revised Guidelines
was issued in Feb, 2003. Under the MIS program State
Govt. are funded for hardware, software & networking,
Development of application software and upgrading
of existing computers. The emphasis is development
of suitable Application software for the Rural water
supply sector of the State govt.
For the MIS & computerization
programme for the 10th plan period, so far various
states govt. have been sanctioned projects to the
tune of Rs 99.93 crores. The various components of
the project are Hardware, software , Application software,
Networking , training and site preparation.
