Subject : Organising Communication
Strategy Workshop for taking up IEC activities in TSC.
Sir/ Madam
As you are aware proper implementation of Total
Sanitation Campaign (TSC) requires effective communication at the
village level. TSC gives lot of emphasis on IEC and awareness generation.
We in association with UNICEF have developed National Communication
Strategy as well as prototype of district communication strategy.
To roll out this communication strategy, four workshops have been
organized at Lucknow, Jaipur, Bangalore and Bhuwaneshwar for UP,
Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Assam, MP, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Karnataka,
Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Considering the importance of IEC in sanitation
promotion, it is decided to organize similar workshops for other
remaining states at Delhi. The workshop for your state will be organized
during 19th to 20th July 2005 at Hotel Metropolitan Nikko near Gol
Dakkhana, New Delhi. We propose that 4 persons from State level
who are dealing with TSC and more specifically IEC matters (including
the consultants working in CCDU) may be nominated. In addition,
4 persons from any of the TSC districts in your state should be
nominated who are handling the responsibility of TSC implementation
and more specifically dealing with IEC activities in the district.
In the workshop, they would develop a district communication plan
for their district and this team of officials from state and district
would be expected to work as resource persons and organize similar
workshops at the state level for the remaining districts. The number
of persons to be nominated by each state is given in the table below
